It's been a challenging past few months. While I've not been posting many updates here, I have still been hard at work on PV8 v0.9.8. The latest update turned out to be a much bigger project than I had anticipated. I have been rewriting large parts of the engine and the tools. If you're adventurous, you can always check out the latest changes in the dedicated project branch. I try to push stable updates every few days.
It looks like I'm close enough to a stable build now, so I'm aiming to release the next update at the end of the month. I'm also going to push myself to get back to weekly updates to help keep everyone in the loop if you don't follow on Twitter or Discord. These updates will be short, so they are easy to digest and quicker to write.
The new influx of people trying out PV8 and submitting issues/fixes has inspired me to push forward through the last few weeks. That's why I'm happy to announce that you can now sponsor the project on Github.
I understand that it's a difficult time for people, so if you can't support the project right now, either donate to a good cause or help out later. The first bounty claimed last week helped fix the music tracker and .wav export. I'd love to incentivize more people to help contribute to the project and speed up the development. There are other ways to help support PV8 too. You can "pay what you want" on itch.io and pick up the Pro Art Packs or Pro Tutorials.
Finally, here is a preview of a new Draw Tool that I've been working on for the past week.
The goal is to combine the Color and Sprite tool into one. I've also been enhancing the drawing tools, cleaning up long-standing bugs, as well as simplifying the way PV8 works with colors and palettes.
I'll check in next week with more updates!
